Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

His nickname during his playing career was 'Locker.'
He was pitched to the Capitals as being a tough grinding fighter, when in reality, he wasn't.
He was the only one of the six players in the Rod Langway trade who never wound up on a Stanley Cup winning team.
He played on four different teams in the last three years of his career.
He told his German team he was retiring, because he didn't want to carry the team on his back, but was translated in German that he was retiring due to a back injury, which wasn't the case.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a standout player at Clarkson University, and had his number retired by the hockey team.
He embraced the trade to Washington, citing he got more of an opportunity to establish himself as a full-time NHL player, then he would have in Montreal.
He voluntarily made appearances in and around the Washington, D.C. area on his own time to help promote the Capitals and sell hockey to kids in the Capital Beltway region.
He briefly worked at a radiology clinic, before making the full-time transition to the broadcast booth.
While Rod Langway is credited for saving the Capitals on the ice, he is credited for saving the Capitals in the community.
He takes pride in his status of being an ambassador for ice hockey in the D.C. area, at a time when the sport was practically ignored.
Due to his coverage of the Caps games on television, he is the longest-serving former player associated with the Capitals franchise to date.
