Rufus was originally made up of musicians from one-hit wonder group American Breed.
The band went through numerous line-up changes.
Their name was taken from an advice column in Popular Mechanics Magazine.
During one performance, Chaka Khan vomited into the audience.
They share a name with winner of the Westminster Kennel Club dog show (2006).
Their name was stolen by the group Ruffus.

Why they might not be annoying:

Rufus had little chart success until the addition of Chaka Khan.
Stevie Wonder wrote 'Tell Me Something Good' specifically for Chaka's fiery vocal delivery.
The band scored both of their Grammy awards nearly a decade apart, the first in 1975 and the second in 1984.
Their final song together, 'Ain't Nobody,' with its distinctive keyboard introduction, is a soul classic.
