The Resume

    (circa 960-circa 1030)
    Born in Yao-hsien, China
    Birth name was Fan Zhongzheng
Painted the hanging scroll 'Travelers among Mountains and Streams'

Why he might be annoying:

He became reclusive in his old age.
Although a catalogue of the artworks of Emperor Huizong listed 58 works by Fan Kuan, 'Travelers...' is believed to be the only one of his painting to still survive.
His signature on 'Travelers...' was not discovered until 1958. (Admittedly, it is hidden in a group of leaves.)

Why he might not be annoying:

He was given the name Kuan (meaning 'broadness' in Chineses) for his tolerant attitude.
He epitomized the 'monumental landscape' school of Chinese painting.
His paintings were inspired by Taoist ideals of becoming one with nature.
