TV Series
    (October 1, 1982-April 17, 1987)
    Comedy-drama series
    Originally aired on NBC
    Stephanie Zimbalist as Laura Holt
    Pierce Brosnan as Remington Steele
Doris Roberts as Mildred Krebs (season 2 recurring; seasons 3-5 regular)
Premise: Under a fictitious male detective pseudonym, a female licensed private detective utilizes a handsome male thief to solve crimes
Every episode contained the word 'Steele' in it.
There were rumors that co-stars feuded behind the scenes.
Two cast members from the first two seasons, James Read and Jack Scalia, departed from the series because they felt their characters were seldom used in the series's premise.
The series was supposedly canceled after season four, but was reinstated with six made-for-television films.
As a result, Brosnan was forced to pull out from his role as James Bond before production of 'The Living Daylights' began.
The series's catchy theme song was composed by the legendary Henry Mancini.
It made Brosnan and Roberts overnight stars.
The series was hailed by feminists for making a female in charge of a detective agency.
Critics also lauded the mixture of screwball comedy and crime noir while making clever pop culture references.
The series was spoofed or parodied in similar television series such as 'Moonlighting,' 'Castle' and 'Psych.'
Brosnan's popularity on the series led to him being cast as James Bond.
Roberts would later find more acclaim with her role on the comedy 'Everybody Loves Raymond.'
