Why he might be annoying:

    He earned the nickname 'The Red Baron' as a result of his hair color.
    He was scratched from the 1981 Dodgers postseason roster, which in turn cost him a chance to be recognized as part of the championship team.
    He struggled with arm injuries later in his career, which hampered his effecriveness.
    His career abruptly ended weeks before the player's strike that cancelled the remainder of the 1994 season.
    He is devoutly religious and speaks at many Christian related functions.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first of four Dodger rookies to earn the NL Rookie of the Year Award in four consecutive years between 1979 and 1982.
    Despite not being on the Dodgers playoff roster, he still received a World Series ring from the team (1981).
    He was chosen over the likes of Dwight Gooden and Bruce Sutter for the 1984 NL Cy Young Award.
    He accomplshed a rare feat for a pitcher, when he stole home plate in a game (1988).
    He overcame a curable form of colon cancer in 2008, without missing any time in his broadcasting duties.
    His commentary has been described as being insightful and knowledgeable by baseball pundits.
