Why he might be annoying:

    He jumped to the Players League, but returned to the Phillies when the league folded.
    His claim to the 1902 AL batting title has been disputed, with Baseball-Reference.com arguing that Nap Lajoie won the title.
    He was thrown off a train by the conductor after he downed five whiskeys then began brandishing a straight razor and threatening other passengers.
    He then ran after the train as it crossed the International Railway Bridge, and fell from the bridge into the Niagara River.
    His body was found two weeks later at the bottom of Niagara Falls.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first person to hit over .400 in three different seasons.
    His the only player (as of 2020) to hit four homers and four doubles in a single game (July 13, 1896).
    He is the only player (as of 2020) to win batting titles in both leagues.
    An opposing pitcher said, ‘When you pitch to Delahanty, you just want to shut your eyes, say a prayer and chuck the ball. The Lord only knows what'll happen after that.’
