Why she might be annoying:

She was the first of eleven children.
She married an Italian nobleman in 1896, and divorced him seven years later.
She started her business by catering only to the snooty elite, specializing in mother-daughter dresses for the wealthy.
She stated 'When I do not say anything that means that I approve.'
She had a volatile relationship with her only child, Marguerite.
It took 100 years before a Lanvin boutique opened in the U.S. (Bal Harbour, Florida - December 4th, 2009)

Why she might not be annoying:

She grew up in poverty and became an apprentice milliner at age 16 to help the family.
She and her family were friends with famed writer Victor Hugo.
She started humbly by making intricate dresses for her daughter until her passion for dressmaking caught on with the public.
She was one of the most influential designers of the 1920s and '30s, and is credited for designing the first 'flapper dresses' of the era.
Some of her '20s clients included Mary Pickford and Marlene Dietrich.
As an innovative businesswoman, she opened her own dye factory in 1923 to create colors for fabrics nobody had ever imagined until she made them a reality.
Her signature perfume fragrance Arpège (French for 'arpeggio'), introduced in 1927 and inspired by her daughter's practice of scales on the piano, is still popular today.
For her contributions to the French fashion industry, she was awarded two Légion d'honneur medals - a Chevalier in 1926 and an Officier in 1938.
