    Her first job was due to family connections.

    During World War II, her pictures of the Women's Army Corps and the Tuskegee Airmen were used to increase public support for women and blacks in the military.
    She was the first woman on staff at Sports Illustrated (1953).
    She stated: 'I'd rather stalk with a camera than a gun.'
