The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

While hunting, he accidentally shot and killed Ricky Holgers, a fifteen-year-old friend who was dating his younger sister (1976).
In the months before his arrest (see next entry), he was suspected of smashing holes in a neighbor’s boat and slashing the tires of his sister’s RV.
He attacked his neighbor, Jim Miller, with a four-foot metal pipe, breaking two of Miller’s ribs, bruising his kidney, and fracturing a vertebra (August 15, 2019).
When he was arrested, police found a sawed-off shotgun with the serial number filed off under his bed.
Psychiatrists who examined him found him to be suffering from delusions and paranoia.
A judge ruled he was incompetent to stand trial and ordered him confined to a secure treatment facility.

Why he might not be annoying:

He had two assists in the Olympic game against the Soviet Union, including one for Mike Eruzione’s game-winning goal.
He reunited with Olympics coach Herb Brooks when he played for the Rangers.
He set the Rangers record for most points by a rookie, 76.
He was the first (and at the time of his death only) American player to score five goals in a single game (February 23, 1983).
His second wife, Kara, died in an accidental fall from the second-floor balcony of their home (September 6, 2012).
His family suspected that his violent behavior may have been caused by chronic traumatic encephalopathy from taking too many blows to the head during his playing days.
