    Born in Germany
In early 17th century Germany, two pamphlets; Fama Fraternitatis RC (The Fame of the Brotherhood of RC) and Confessio Fraternitatis RC (The Confession of the Brotherhood of RC) were spread thorough the country
Fama Fraternitatis related how one Christian Rosenkreuz (German for rose cross) 1378-1484 had traveled through the middle east and had gained much esoteric knowledge and had founded Rosicrucianism ( Rose Cross) to spread this knowledge
Confessio Fraternitatis announced that soon Germany and Europe would be transformed by alchemists and other learned men spreading this knowledge
The whole thing may have been a hoax.
There is no evidence that Christian Rosenkreuz or the order he supposedly founded ever existed.
The teachings of Rosicrucianism are a mishmash of alchemy, Freemasonry and protestantism/Lutheranism.
With no evidence whatsoever to back them up, some modern groups claim to be the original Rosicrucians.
The significance of the Rose Cross is unknown.
The writings may have been meant as allegory and not to be taken literally.
The pamphlets caused a mini movement called the Rosicrucian Enlightenment which led to an increased interest in science and indirectly to scientific groups like the Royal Society in England. So in a way, Europe was transformed.
No one has ever started a war over Rosicrucianism, no has ever been burned at the stake by Roscrucians, it has never cost anyone their tax dollars, and they have no televangelists.
