The Resume

    (May 31, 1861-March 8, 1948)
Designed U.S. Christmas Seals to fight Consumption (Tuberculosis)

Why she might be annoying:

She designed her Christmas Seal with a wreath saying 'Merry Christmas,' which originally appeared as the Denmark Christmas Seal.
She was against women being allowed to vote and actually lead the national anti-suffrage cause.
She used the name Priscilla Leonard to write her poetry.

Why she might not be annoying:

Despite being born into a rich family, she became a social worker at fifteen.
Ironically, she worked for child labor laws.
To help raise money for a local hospital to fight tuberculosis, she designed U.S. Christmas Seals (1907).
She originated the idea to raise $300.
Christmas Seals made $3,000 in two days, which was ten times more than originally wanted.
She is honored on a U.S. Commemorative postage stamp (1986).
Christmas Seals are still successfully marketed today to help fight diseases.
