Hockey Player
The Resume
(July 2, 1987- )
Born in Viking, Alberta, Canada
Drafted 179th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft
Forward for the Calgary Flames (2008-10) and the Carolina Hurricanes
Son of NHL head coach Darryl Sutter
Why he might be annoying
Some hockey pundits feel he only was drafted by the Flames as a result of nepotism, since his dad was the general manager.
Despite his family credentials, he failed to hold down an NHL roster spot on a full-time basis.
He was arrested for punching a Scottsdale cab driver in a drunken stupor a night before the Flames were to play in Phoenix (November 11, 2010).
If being drafted by his dad didn't raise eyebrows in hockey circles, his uncle traded for him in the junior ranks.
His name sounds way too close to that of his uncle Brent's.
Why he might not be annoying
He grew up in Chicago, the Silicon Valley region and Calgary as a result of his dad's head coaching career.
He is the eighth member of his family and the second member of the second generation of the Sutter family to play in the NHL.
He played alongside his cousin Brandon in both Red Deer and Carolina, prior to the latter's trade to Pittsburgh and played alongside his cousin Brody in the minors.
Co-incidentally enough, he was drafted in the same draft spot as his father 27 years earlier.
He scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game (December 23, 2008).
