Why he might be annoying:

He was an incredibly boring fighter to watch.
Later in his career, he showed up extremely fat and out of shape for fights.
He only scored 11 knockouts in his career.
He was never again a threat to the title after his close loss to Ken Norton.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was absolutely robbed in his title fight with Muhammad Ali.
Other fighters underestimated him, often to their regret.
His upset win over George Foreman was Ring Magazine's Fight of the Year.
He was the best counter-puncher of all time.
Although he was derided as a weak puncher, he shook up Ali in their fight and knocked George Foreman on his butt in their fight.
