    Two-time NASCAR series champion (1952,1955)
    Inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame (1991) and NASCAR Hall of Fame (2014)

    He ran moonshine for his bootlegging uncle.
    He boasted he was 'the most disqualified driver in history.'
    He raced with a pet monkey named Jocko as his 'co-driver.'
    The monkey cost him a win at the Raleigh 300 when he had to make an unplanned pit stop after Jocko was struck in the face by a pebble and started racing around the cockpit, clawing at Tim (May 30, 1953).

    He was married to Frances Flack for 53 years.
    He won 21% of the races he entered, a NASCAR record.
