The Resume

    (1987- )
Born in Brentwood, Long Island, New York
    Erick Sermon (November 25, 1968- ) and Parrish Smith (May 13, 1968- )
Recorded the albums ‘Strictly Business’ (1988), ‘Unfinished Business’ (1989), ‘Business As Usual’ (1990), ‘Business Never Personal’ (1992), ‘Back in Business’ (1997), ‘Out of Business’ (1999) and ‘We Mean Business’ (2008)
Name stands for ‘Erick and Parrish making dollars’

Why they might be annoying:

Each of their albums uses ‘Business’ in the title and includes a track with ‘Jane’ in the title.
They tended to rap in a near-monotone.
Ironically, their biggest single, ‘Crossover,’ dissed radio for ignoring rappers like themselves in favor of pop-oriented acts like MC Hammer.
They broke up for a three-year period (1993-96), with Smith accusing Sermon of being behind a burglary at his house, and Sermon accusing Smith of financial improprieties.

Why they might not be annoying:

Their use of synth-heavy funk samples appealed to both the East and West Coast scenes.
They served as mentors to Redman, Das EFX, and K-Solo.
Their ‘You Gots to Chill’ was featured on the first episode of Yo! MTV Raps.
Bringing things full circle, Sermon was one of the rappers participating in a freestyle session on Yo!’s final episode.
