Recorded over 300 songs and made over 70 movies

Why she might be annoying:

She had to give up her two first choices for stage names, La Soldadera (‘the female soldier’) and La Amapola (‘the poppy’), when they were snagged by other singers.
The name that stuck, Flor Silverstre (‘wild flower’), was taken from the title of a Delores Del Rio film.
She was married three times, divorced twice.
She never appeared in an American movie – not even the one Hollywood film directed by her third husband, Antonio Aguilar.

Why she might not be annoying:

She got her big break winning a talent contest sponsored by XEW, Mexico’s most popular radio station.
Her singing career lasted 70 years.
The Association of Mexican Cinema Journalists honored her status as a star of the golden age of the Mexican film industry with the Silver Goddess Award (2013).
She was called ‘The Sentimental One,’ ‘The Voice That Caresses,’ and ‘the Queen of Mexican Song.’
