Why he might be annoying
He wrote a strange pamphlet on sexuality and hygiene called ‘OBEY NATURE’S LAWS!’
In it, he ranted about how people shouldn’t have sex before marriage (that's one of nature's laws?).
He said that if boys masturbate as teenagers, they should be circumcised.
He posed in the nude.
Why he might not be annoying
His family abandoned him at an orphanage.
Many people have written of his charm and charisma.
He was an articulate speaker.
He was well-read and could quote Plato.
In addition to being a performer, he was also a circus administrator.
He enjoyed fishing.
He said he was happy with his third leg, because it helped him to swim.
When asked if he felt sorry for himself, he said: ‘There are lots of people in the world who are a great deal worse off than I am, who have far less to live for, and who have but a fraction of the pleasure that I get out of life.’
