The Resume

    (April 22, 1966-January 27, 2017)
    Born in Kinston, North Carolina
    Attended North Carolina State University
Played in the NBA with the New Jersey Nets (1988-90), Philadelphia 76ers (1991-93), Minnesota Timberwolves (1994) and Charlotte Hornets (1998)

Why he might be annoying:

He was suspended for poor grades (1986).
He and two other NC State players were accused of taking bribes to shave points in games.
He was rumored to have deliberately played badly in a March Madness game so NC State would lose and he would avoid post-game drug testing.
He admitted to violating NCAA rules by accepting $45,000 from an agent.
He mostly warmed the bench in the NBA.
He was arrested after a routine traffic stop and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana and cocaine (2006).
He was charged with driving with a suspended license after rear-ending another car (2010).
He was arrested after selling prescription drugs to an undercover police officer (2010).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was ambidextrous. (Or, as he once told reporters, ‘amphibious.’)
The point shaving allegations ended with a grand jury concluding there was insufficient evidence to file charges against anyone (1993).
He twice led the Italian LBA in rebounding (1991,1994).
Coach Jim Valvano said, ‘He is impossible to love two days in a row, but impossible to hate two days in a row, too.’
