They got their name from the Dungeons and Dragons RPG game.
They broke up on bad terms.
They experimented with drugs.
They achieved more success overseas than they did in the states.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are easily one of the most underrated bands of the 90's.
They were described as a mixture between the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix and Black Sabbath.
Not only were they underrated, but they managed to create two genres of rock and roll that are just now taking off, Desert Rock and Stoner Rock.
In just three years after forming, they found themselves touring the world in support of Metallica.
Queens of the Stone Age is essentially a Kyuss-side project.
All the former members have continued their music careers in the genre they built.
