The Resume

    (May 13, 1936-July 9, 1985)
    Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic
Acted in 'Blackboard Jungle (1955),' 'Dino (1957),' 'The Light in the Forest (1958),' 'Slumber Party 57 (1976),' 'The Astro-Zombies (1968),' 'Centennial (1978)' 'V (1983),' and 'Fever Pitch (1985)'
Portrayed Ramon Diaz Jr. on Rhoda (1977 - 78)

Why he might be annoying:

He became the seventh and final husband to singer Dinah Washington - a woman ten years his senior. The marriage lasted only a year.
Even into adulthood he looked like a lanky teenager, resulting in his being typecast as ethnic juvenile delinquents.
His turn in the hagsploitation genre flick 'Lady in a Cage' - as one of the psycho thugs who sodomizes a disabled Olivia De Havilland in her own home - deserves a place in the Mexican Stereotype Hall of Fame.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was discovered by director Richard Brooks appearing in an Equity Library Theater production of 'Heavenly Express.'
He received critical acclaim in 'Blackboard Jungle' as a semi-retarded youth whose struggles with English make him the target of bullying.
He contributed regularly to the New York magazine, Canales, and was working on a book about Hispanics in American film, at the time of his death.
Although typecast, he had several opportunities to break out of the stereotyping, most notably in an episode of Have Gun Will Travel (as a teenager who stole a statue of St. Francis of Assisi) and in the movie 'Trial' (as a Hispanic teenager falsely accused of rape and murder).
He worked both with a young Steve McQueen on an episode of 'Wanted: Dead or Alive' and Carroll O'Connor in the first season of All in the Family (as one of the earliest objects of Archie's racial insensitivity).
He directed the play 'White Wings for a Black Dove' on Broadway.
He won an Ace award from the New York Hispanic Press Association, in 1980.
