Why he might be annoying

His presidency is marred by massive corruption and the effects of civil war.
His family amassed quite a fortune while Angola remains one of the world’s poorest countries.
The opposition claimed that he deliberately delays elections in order to remain in power.

He doesn't give speeches or show up in public excessively.
He likes music and soccer.
He lived in exile in France because of his pro-independence views (1961).
He eventually renounced Marxism (1991).
As of 2010, Omar Bongo’s death left him the second-longest serving leader in Africa after Muammar Gaddafi.
