Why they might be annoying:

Not just any 1975, but the 1975.
They were named worst band by NME (2014).
They issued a fake breaking-up notice as a publicity stunt (June, 2015).
’I like it when…’ has the longest title of any album to top the Billboard chart.
Healy’s fond of comments like, ‘[We’re] a post-modern pop band that references a million things. I don’t even know what my band is half the time.’

Why they might not be annoying:

The band members began playing together as teenagers in high school.
They opened for the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park (July, 2013).
Three years after being named worst band, they were named best British band by NME (2017).
A critic who noted that the band could appeal to fans of New Order and One Direction added, ‘I can’t believe we just posted both of those bands in the same sentence either.’
