Why he might be annoying:

His playoff record is a dismal 2-7.
He crumbles when he plays against Tiger Woods.
He three putted the last hole in the 1996 US Open to lose by one stroke.
He once set a mark of most money won on tour without a victory.
He has twice gone several years with many high finishes but no wins.
He does infomercials for golf products.

Why he might not be annoying:

His father was also an accomplished golfer before dying in a plane crash in 1988.
He won the 1997 PGA Championship by 5 strokes at Winged Foot, a course his father once played.
When he won, a rainbow flew over the course. Some say it's symbolic of his father watching down on him.
He won a tournament in 1995, which was his last chance to qualify for the Masters. He finished runner up in that event.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina.
His brother-in-law committed suicide after he confessed to embezzling money from him.
He is nearly 40 and is still one of the longest hitters in the game.
He was one of the last players to play with a wooden driver before switching to metal.
