The Breeders recordings are 'Pod (1990),' 'Safari EP (1992),' 'Last Splash (1993)' and 'Title TK (2002)'
They had a semi-hit song with 'Cannonball' (1994)
They had several line-up changes especially among drummers.
The songs on 'Pod,' were to be written by both Kim Deal and Tonya Donnelly. But Tonya was concurrently in the Throwing Muses, and their contract with Sire Records limited such collaborations outside of the band.
Kelley, Kim's twin, who had little musical experience, replaced Tonya on lead guitar.
Kelley's performance made The Breeders sound inferior.
The Deal sisters smoke, including during performances.
Kim's vocals have become very hoarse and scratchy.
Kim boasts of her pot smoking and other drug use.
After she joined the Breeders, Kelley got addicted to heroin. Ironically, the band covered 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' by the Beatles on 'Pod.'
Kelley got arrested for receiving heroin via UPS (1994).
They were one of the first 'super groups' of indie rock.
Kelley learned the guitar two months prior to her first Breeder's show.
Kurt Cobain said that he didn't pay attention to lyrics, except for those of the Breeders.
The Prodigy's 'Firestarter' contains a sample from the song 'S.O.S.' on 'Last Splash.'
Kim beat up two guys who harassed Kelley during a pool game. The men were opponents of the Deals and didn't liked that they were losing to the twins.
Kim waited for Kelley to get her life back together before they recorded 'Title TK.'
Kim once said that the best gift she had ever been given was Kelley.
Kelley went to rehab, then a halfway house and eventually kicked heroin.
Kelley designs knitted hats and purses.
