Musician

The Resume

    (May 18, 1950- )
    Born in Akron, Ohio
    Lead vocalist of Devo
Songs with Devo include 'Whip It,' 'Mongoloid,' '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction,' 'Girl U Want,' 'Freedom of Choice' and 'Jocko Homo'
Composer for many TV series, films and video games
Hosts the 'Mark's Magic Pictures' segments on 'Yo Gabba Gabba!'

Why he might be annoying:

He has strange music taste and fashion sense.
Even many of the TV series and films he scores music for are on the quirky side.
He angered feminists for whipping clothes off a woman in the 'Whip It' video.
He was replaced as composer for the TV series 'Big Love' by fellow nerdy rocker David Byrne.
His reaction to 'Weird' Al Yankovic's Devo spoof 'Dare to Be Stupid': 'He sort of re-sculpted that song into something else, and I hate him for it, basically.'

Why he might not be annoying:

Though his self-designed thick glasses are a fashion trademark, he actually needs them for his extreme near-sightedness.
He attended Kent State at the time of the National Guard shootings.
His work in Devo was influential with both new wave music and music videos.
He has contributed music for anything from Wes Anderson films to children's television series.
Chuckie in 'Rugrats' was modeled after him (perhaps a nod to his composing its theme song).
