The Resume

    (December 17, 1937-July 22, 2019)
    Born in New Orleans, Louisiana
    Keyboardist, singer, and songwriter
Oldest member of the Neville Brothers

Why he might be annoying:

He had much less success as a solo act than his brother Aaron.
During the 70s, he abused amphetamines in an effort to fight off narcolepsy.
He married his second wife less than an hour after filming a video for a Neville Brothers album.
He often flashed the Vulcan ‘live long and prosper sign’ in concert.

Why he might not be annoying:

When he was sixteen, he sang lead on the Hawkettes single ‘Mardi Gras Mambo,’ which became a staple of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations.
He earned a total of $12 for ‘Mardi Gras Mambo,’ which eventually sold over a million singles in New Orleans.
Allen Toussaint said, ‘Every time he’s put a band together, it’s been very special and very unique.’
He presumably did not have ego problems, since he did not object to the Neville Sound being renamed the Meters.
His home in New Orleans was damaged by Hurricane Katrina, then further destroyed by vandals.
He continued playing for over a decade after complications from back surgery forced him to walk with a cane.
