Why he might be annoying:

He was obsessed with the television show 'Dexter.'
He lured a man online by posing as a woman on a dating service.
There is speculation the short film 'House of Cards' he produced was based on an episode of 'Dexter.'
It is widely believed that he bludgeoned his victim to death in the exact same way one of the characters from his 'House of Cards' script was supposed to die.
Prior to the murder, he lured a second man to the garage he was based out of and tried attacking him.
He posted on his Facebook status that he had a lot in common with Dexter Morgan.

Why he might not be annoying:

Prior to the murder, some former colleagues described him as being a dedicated filmmaker.
He financed most of his film-making projects with his own money.
He made a tribute film to 'Star Wars' which was one of his notable projects.
The garage in Edmonton he worked out of became a place of interest to Dexter fans shortly after the murder was made public.
