    Wrote many non-fiction works about engineering, dinosaurs and other scientific subjects
    Received a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Cal Tech and an MS from the Steven's Institute in Hoboken NJ
    Books include A Gun for Dinosaur and Other Imaginative Tales, The Goblin Tower, The Ancient Engineers and The Evolution of Naval Weapons
    Also published 'Sword and Sorcery,' believed to be the first anthology of short stories in that genre
    His biographies of Robert E. Howard and H. P. Lovecraft were highly controversial and gave the impression he really didn't like either of them.
    The 'L' stands for Lyman.
    None of his works have ever been filmed.
    He served as a commander in the US Navy during WWII.
    He published over 120 books and several hundred short stories!
    He once spent Easter on Easter Island.
    He tended to over analyze and seek flaws in other writers' works.
    He was married over sixty years and died on his late wife's birthday just a few months after her death.
