    Founded the House of Emanuel Ungaro in 1965
    Won the Neiman Marcus Oscar for Fashion (1969)
    Launched his first menswear collection, 'Ungaro Uimo,' in 1973
    Designed for the films 'Trimp l'oeil' (1975) and 'Gloria' (1980)
    Fragrance lines included 'Diva (1983),' 'Senso (1987),' 'Fleur De Diva (1997),' 'Desnuda (2001),' 'Apparition (2004),' and 'Avon U by Ungaro (2008)'

Why he might be annoying:

    He financed his first show with a loan that used his girlfriend’s Porsche as collateral.
    He said: 'I hate boring clothes. I hate seeing women dressed in a sad way.'
    He reportedly had to be told who Britney Spears was when she started wearing his label.
    He sold a majority stake of the fashion house, in 1996, after experiencing financial struggles (and sold his remaining stakes in 2005).
    He vocally criticized the fashion house for briefly hiring Lindsay Lohan as an artistic director, calling the decision 'a disaster.'

    His outfits were popularized by Jacqueline Kennedy and Catherine Deneuve.
    He lived frugally and remained humble throughout his career despite his success.
    His wishes were largely disrespected after his ciuture house was bought out.
