Outlaw

The Resume

    (April 13, 1969- )
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
    Founded Capitol Investments USA
Used the company to orchestrate a $930 million Ponzi scheme
Pled guilty to securities fraud and money laundering (September 15, 2010)
Sentenced to 20 years in federal prison (June 7, 2011)
Former University of Miami Hurricanes booster
Told Yahoo! Sports that he had provided 'impermissible' benefits to 72 Miami athletes from 2002 to 2010 (August 17, 2011)

Why he might be annoying:

He was sentenced to probation and anger management after sucker punching a club owner who caught him trying to sneak a dozen friends through a back door to avoid the cover charge (1995).
He would gamble $25,000 a weekend on pro and college football.
His lavish lifestyle and hooker and stripper laden parties prompted the Miami New Times to call him Miami's Caligula and South Beach's Jay Gatsby.
He was nicknamed 'Little Luke' for his 5'5 height and in reference to earlier Miami booster Luther 'Luke' Campbell.
He reportedly maintained Campbell's tradition of offering cash bounties to Hurricane players who knocked opponents out of games with injuries.
In addition to giving Miami players cash and goods, he claimed to have arranged sex parties with prostitutes and to have procured an abortion on behalf of a player.
He openly admits his motive for making the allegations public is revenge: 'I just can’t get past the fact these players turned their nose at me.'

Why he might not be annoying:

Yahoo! Sports noted, 'For all the ugliness, Shapiro has a natural gift for gab and a convincing, likeable, overwhelming personality.'
He isn't completely without taste: he noted, 'I had an architect try to put a stripper pole in my suite. Aesthetically, it wouldn't work.'
In an in-joke, when reserving hotel rooms for his alleged player-prostitute parties, he would use the name of Teddy Dupay, a basketball player at the rival University of Florida.
He proved lots of schadenfreude for people who hate the Hurricanes.
