The Resume

    (July 31, 1968- )
    Born in Galveston, Texas
Quarterback for the University of Houston
    Heisman Trophy winner (1989)
Chosen in the first round (#7 overall) of the 1990 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions
Played for the Detroit Lions (1990-93), Ottawa Rough Riders (1995), BC Lions (1996), Toronto Argonauts (1997) and Berlin Thunder (1999)
    College football analyst for ESPN
Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (2004)

Why he might be annoying:

He was a classic example of a Heisman bust.
He was drafted by Lions coach Wayne Fontes against the advice of his scouting director, who resigned in protest the next day.
He was usually put into games only after the Lions were either behind by a large margin or out of the playoffs.
In the NFL, he had more interceptions (8) than touchdowns (5).
He was signed by the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars, but was cut from the roster before the season began (1995).

Why he might not be annoying:

He set 26 NCAA records the year he won the Heisman.
He managed to win the Heisman Trophy despite the handicap of Houston being on probation, preventing its games from being shown on TV.
He prepared diligently for a post-football career -- including plenty of networking with broadcasters like Lee Corso and Jim Nantz -- noting, ‘A lot of guys are blindsided when they retire.’
In addition to broadcasting, he has worked for a software development company.
