The Resume

    (January 25, 1938-January 7, 2009)
    Born in Reading, Pennsylvania
Directed 'Wild Guitar' (1962), 'The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies' (1964), 'The Thrill Killers' (1964), 'The Lemon Grove Kids Meet the Monsters' (1965), 'Rat Pfink a Boo Boo' (1966), 'Body Fever' (1969), 'The Mad Love Life of a Hot Vampire' (1971), 'The Horny Vampire' (1971), 'Blood Shack' (1971), 'Sexual Satanic Awareness' (1972), 'Sexorcist Devil' (1974), 'Perverted Passion' (1974), 'Teenage Hustler' (1975), 'Sex Rink' (1976), 'The Hollywood Strangler Meets the Skid Row Slasher' (1979), 'Debbie Does Las Vegas' (1981) and 'Las Vegas Serial Killer' (1986)
Acted in many of his films, usually under the name 'Cash Flagg'

Why he might be annoying:

He was fired from Alfred Hitchcock Presents after almost beaning the star with an A-frame.
He used a ton of pseudonums, including Cash Flagg, Sven Christian, Sven Hellstrom, Harry Nixon, Michael J. Rogers, Wolfgang Schmidt, Cindy Lou Steckler and Cindy Lou Stutters.
'The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies' and 'Rat Pfink a Boo Boo' were both nominated by the Medved brothers for a Golden Turkey as worst film title. ('Rat Pfink a Boo Boo' won for both being inane and not giving the viewer a clue what the film was about.)
He would frequently re-release his films under garish new titles.
He called the MST3K parody of 'The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living...' 'just disgusting.'

Why he might not be annoying:

During a fight scene in 'Wild Guitar,' Arch Hall, Jr. accidentally hit him in the mouth, knocking out some of his teeth. Steckler duct taped a piece of white styrofoam in his mouth to keep keep shooting and stay on schedule.
Oscar-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond got his start as Steckler's camera operator.
For his film 'Body Fever,' he created a bit part for down on his luck fellow B-movie director Coleman Francis.
Many of his films have a cult following.
He said of his films' idiosyncratic appeal, 'What I did in these films was just be myself. And the people I met in Hollywood, they were never themselves.'
