    His autographs were signed as 'Frank Higgins' even though his first name was really Michael.
    He committed errors often as a third baseman.
    He played for two teams that lost the World Series (1940 and 1946).
    He and Tom Yawkey were friends and had a reputation of being racist by opposing racial integration until 1959.
    His poor decisions for pitchers led to 100 losses for the Red Sox in the 1965 season as the team's GM.
    He was arrested for DUI and negligent homicide (February 27, 1968).
