(1966)
    Portrayed Charlie Ruggles in 'The Ruggles' (1949-52) and Cicero Sweeney in 'The World of Mr. Sweeney' (1954-55)
    Guest roles in The Beverly Hillbillies and Bewitched
    Provided the voice of Aesop in the 'Aesop and Son' segments of Rocky and Bullwinkle

    Oddly, although he appeared in 'Ruggles of Red Gap,' he did not portray Ruggles -- Charles Laughton did.
    He was married and divorced twice.
    He and his second wife owned 94 pets at one point.
    His mother was shot and killed when she stepped between her husband and an armed burglar.
    He appeared in over 100 films in a career that lasted more than 50 years.
    He won a Tony Award for Best Supporting or Featured Actor for 'The Pleasure of His Company' (1959).
    He has three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for work in films, radio and TV.
