The Resume

Why Cobra Kai might be annoying:

Where many shows are picked up several weeks in advance, it premiered barely one week after pickup.
All ten episodes from the first season aired on the same date, with the first two being available for free.
Though set in the Los Angeles area, it was shot in various sections of Georgia.
Rather than its dramatic content, it received an Emmy nomination for its stuntwork. (Look, that’s part of the Karate Kid legacy, deal with it!)
The iconic ‘crane kick’ – shown in the first-season finale – would actually be more useful as physiotherapy for a damaged leg than in an actual battle.

Why Cobra Kai might not be annoying:

Its creators are lifelong fans of the Karate Kid brand.
Its premiere episode racked up 5,4 million viewers — average ratings for many networks but diamond for a struggling Web network. (Within one week, it was renewed for a second full season.)
Despite its comedic undertones, its realistically dark and dirty content was no issue to the demographic in the age range of its younger stars.
With the death of Pat Morita 13 years before, the reality of a post-Miyagi landscape became a running theme.
Rotten Tomatoes rated it a super-rare 100 percent.
