He later clarified that he was also going to say 'of course a lot of our friends and family were lost there as well' before he was interrupted.
    He is a vegetarian.
    He has been divorced.
    He voiced Kris Kringle in a Nike commercial.
    He is credited as one of the first to integrate Jamaican sounds into hip-hop.
    He was homeless in his teenage years.
    After a fan was killed in a fight during a concert he was involved in, and coming off the death of Boogie Down Productions member Scott La Rock, he started the Stop the Violence Movement to end violence in the rap and African-American communities.

    He received a lifetime achievement award at the <22950>BET<22950> Hip Hop Awards, a Living Legend award from the Urban Music Awards, and was one of the first honorees at VH-1's Hip Hop Honors.
