    (1967- )
    Formed in San Francisco
    Line-up in 1968:
Dick Peterson, bass guitar and vocals
    Leigh Stephens, guitar
    Paul Whaley, drums
Best known for the single ‘Summertime Blues' and album ‘Vincebus Eruptum' (both 1968)
    They were a one-hit wonder.
They named themselves after a strain of LSD.
They changed personnel so rapidly that the album ‘New! Improved! Blue Cheer' (1969) had different guitarists on sides one and two.
They are considered pioneers of heavy metal.
They were a six-piece band until they saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey and became a trio.
Their manager said they ‘play so hard and heavy they make cottage cheese out of the air.'
