They are the oldest republic in the world.
They fought Germany in WW I and declared neutrality during WW II.
No relation to pro wrestler, Bruno Samartino.
It offered sanctuary to Austrians, Italians and Jews escaping nazi occupation.
Its people provided a place for Duke of Urbino when he fled from Borgias.
Giuseppe Garabaldi escaped from Austria to America through San Marino (1849).
Its people hid refugees escaping from Mussolini's Italy (1921).
