Why he might be annoying:

    He was short for a leading man and wore lifts in his shoes.
    He also had a paunch and wore toupees.
    On a movie set Bette Davis didn't recognize him and tried to have him thrown out.
    Though often credited with speaking the line 'Come with me to the Casbah' to Hedy Lamarr, he never said such a line.
    He was nominated four times for an Oscar as 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' and lost each time.
    He couldn't handle life without his wife, fell apart and killed himself two days after her cancer death.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He worked as a hospital orderly in a French Army hospital during World War I.
    He fell in love with a British actress in 1934, married her the same year and stayed with her for 44 years until her death.
    He said of the union, 'That love at first sight should happen to me was life's most delicious revenge on a self-opinionated fool.'
    The toupees he wore were only on movies sets, as he never wore them in public view.
    In 1942 he became a naturalized citizen of the U.S.
    Chuck Jones used his voice and mannerisms when he created famed cartoon character Pepé Le Pew.
    His only son committed suicide at age 21 after arguing with a girlfriend and playing Russian roulette (September 1965).
    His dark romantic album was a favorite of Elvis Presley.
