The Resume

    (June 11, 1915-July 18, 1956)
    Born in Sacramento, California
    American boxer
Professional record of 51-7 with 47 knockout wins
Remembered for his size, punching power, and two fights with then heavyweight champion Joe Louis
Brother of former heavyweight champion Max Baer and uncle of actor Max Baer jr
    Six foot six inches tall
Acted on the TV series; 'Rawhide,' 'Sky King,' 'Peter Gunn,' 'Superman,' and 'Gunsmoke'
Appeared in the movies 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and 'Quo Vadis' as Ursus
    Birth name: Jacob Henry Baer

Why he might be annoying:

In his first fight with Joe Louis, when he was knocked down three times in the sixth round his manager entered the ring claiming Louis had hit him after the bell. When he refused to leave the ring, Baer was disqualified.
To settle the controversy, a rematch was held where Louis knocked him out in one round.
Literally every acting role he had was related to his size.
He fought in the shadow of his charismatic older brother.
For someone with his size and punching power, he was not a particularly exciting fighter to watch.
He was rarely in good shape and was visibly flabby even for his fights with Louis.
He was a very poor defensive fighter who didn't even hold his hands up properly or know how to cover up when hurt.

Why he might not be annoying:

He had massive punching power with twenty-five of his forty-seven knockout wins coming in the first round!
He used his size and strength advantages (he was six foot six and usually fought weighing over 240 pounds) over other fighters well.
He was well liked by other fighters.
Although his acting roles were usually very limited, he performed them well, popular on the set and actually received some praise for his role as Ursus in the movie 'Quo Vadis'.
He was a clean fighter, stayed out of trouble out of the ring and fought with unquestioned courage.
