Why Roanoke, Virginia might be annoying:

It has little diversity, especially in the surrounding area.
It is ultra conservative.
There is very little night life.
It's known at 'The Star City,' but has produced few stars besides Ronde and Tiki Barber.
'The Andy Griffith Show' is still a ratings powerhouse, and is on at 5:30 pm.
According to a poll in The Roanoker Magazine, a major supermarket chain (Kroger) is the best bakery in the city.
Neo-conservative groups successfully blocked 'Fahrenheit 9/11' from being shown at Valley View Mall.
Roanoke College is actually located in the neighboring city of Salem.
WDBJ meteorologist Robin Reed can cure most cases of insomnia.

Why Roanoke, Virginia might not be annoying:

It is scenic.
The view from the Mill Mountain Star overlooks the city and valley, and is really beautiful.
The downtown area is well maintained and safe.
Residents often say it is a wonderful place to raise a family.
When the historic Grandin Theatre showed 'Fahrenheit 9/11,' it not only sold out, but people waited in line in the rain.
Of 162 newspapers in top U.S. metropolitan areas, The Roanoke Times ranked first in the percentage of adults who read their daily newspaper. Salem is a small town dream for sports fans, annually hosting the Division III NCAA basketball and football championships.
Hollins University is a women's college in Roanoke, and is known for having many lesbians.
