The Resume

    (July 26, 1894-November 22, 1963)
Birth name is Aldous Leonard Huxley
Wrote 'Crome Yellow,' 'Antic Hay,' 'Those Barren Leaves,' 'Point Counter Point,' 'Brave New World,' 'Eyeless in Gaza,' 'After Many a Summer,' 'Time Must Have a Stop,' 'Ape and Essence,' 'The Devils of Loudun,' 'The Genius and the Goddess,' 'Island,' 'The Doors of Perception,' 'Heaven and Hell,' 'The Art of Seeing,' 'Ends and Means'

Why he might be annoying:

The Doors took their band name from the title of his novel, 'The Doors of Perception,' which was taken from a William Blake poem.
He experimented with mescaline and LSD in the 50's.
    He was a vegetarian.
    He smoked.
Some of his writings on psychedelics became frequent reading among early hippies.
On his deathbed, unable to speak, he made a written request to his wife for a tab of LSD.
He died the same day as John F. Kennedy and C.S. Lewis.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was born into a family of scientific minds.
He was a lanky, delicately framed child who was gifted intellectually.
He was six feet four and a half inch tall.
While a student at Oxford, he published two volumes of poetry.
His mother and sister died when he was 14, and his brother died 5 years later.
He suffered an illness (keratitis punctata) which seriously damaged his eyesight, which disqualified him from World War I.
Once his eyesight recovered, he was able to read English literature at Balliol College, Oxford.
He already established his reputation as a satirist and social thinker at age 19.
He was denied citizenship in America since he refused to ascribe his pacifism to religious beliefs (1937).
His first wife died of breast cancer.
In 1960, he was diagnosed with throat cancer.
By the end of his life, he was considered, in certain learned circles, a 'leader of modern thought.'
His death was overshadowed by the death of John F. Kennedy.
