    He originally began filming ‘The Friendly Giant’ in his home state of Wisconsin, before moving it to Toronto as a result of getting guaranteed airtime.
    He didn’t do anything noteworthy outside of ‘The Friendly Giant.’
    His lone work outside of ‘Friendly Giant’ was a result of footage from an episode shown in the background of the 1997 thriller film ‘Stranger in the House’ (which was uncredited).
    He avoided doing public appearances as the Friendly Giant in order not to break character.
    He was another American-born television personality who opted to establish his show on Canadian television.
    His show ‘Friendly Giant’ was cancelled by CBC after being on the air for three decades.

    As he was too ill to travel to Ottawa to receive his Order of Canada medal, the Governor-General at the time, Romeo LeBlanc, personally went to his home to present him with the honor (1998).
