    (circa 17-32)
    Daughter of Herodias
    Stepdaughter of King Herod Antipas
Known for her legendary 'Dance of the Seven Veils'
Although she appears in the Bible, her name is never given.
She did sexually suggestive dances for her stepfather, Herod Antipas.
When he asked what she wanted as a reward, she asked for the head of John the Baptist.
Legend has it she was angry because John wouldn't have sex with her.
When the head was brought to her, she reportedly made out with it.
She was known for her sexual attractiveness.
Writers and artists love her story, because it gives them a chance to depict sex, nudity and horror under the label of a 'good Bible story.'
Oscar Wilde wrote a good play about her, and Richard Strauss turned it into a good opera.
It couldn't have been fun to have her stepfather constantly leaching after her.
After she kissed the severed head, Herod reportedly killed her in disgust.
