The Resume

    (1938-January 26, 2022)
Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
    Joined the Sisters of Mercy
Recorded ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ with a pop/rock musical backing (1974)

Why she might be annoying:

The obvious nom de disque for her was already taken.
‘The Lord’s Prayer’ was originally recorded as a B-side, with a cover of Donovan’s ‘Brother Sun, Sister Moon’ as the expected hit.
    She was a one-hit wonder.
She called the period after her song became a hit ‘a horrible time’ that caused her to question her faith.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She had perfect pitch.
She taught music at St. Aloysius College.
She led a successful series of ‘rock masses’ at Adelaide Cathedral.
’The Lord’s Prayer’ became a Top 10 hit in over a dozen countries, including the US and Great Britain.
’The Lord’s Prayer’ was the first song recorded in Australia to sell a million singles in the US.
She donated her royalties from ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ to charity.
Despite her post-hit crisis of faith, she did not leave her order.
