Why he might be annoying:

Quebec made an attempt to secede from Canada during his term.
He failed to make a very good deal with Quebec as far as becoming one with the rest of Canada.
His Conservative Party started to fragment and decline during his term.
He supported many economic proposals that Canadians generally disliked.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was good friends with Ronald Reagan.
He signed the North American Free Trade Agreement with the United States.
He lead a renewal of the Conservative Party in Canada, with a blow-out victory in the 1984 elections.
He was a good friend of John Diefenbaker as a student at Laval University.
