    Born in Slaton, Texas
    Saxophonist
Best known for playing on the Rolling Stones albums 'Let It Bleed' (1969), 'Sticky Fingers' (1971), 'Exile on Main Street' (1972), 'Goat's Head Soup' (1974) and 'Emotional Rescue' (1980) and numerous tours

He ran away from home at 15 to be a roadie for Buddy Holly and the Crickets.
He was fired from the second half of the Stones' 1973 European tour after missing some shows.
When the Stones found him, he was reportedly sharing a bathtub full of champagne with a French girl.
Mick Jagger considered him a bad influence on Keith Richards. (We will pause to give you time to wrap your mind around the concept of 'bad influence on Keith Richards.')
During the 'Exile on Main Street' sessions' drug dealers stole some of his saxes (and Keith's guitars) to settle the musicians' unpaid debts.
He was one of John Lennon's drinking buddies during the ex-Beatle's 'lost weekend.'
He played gigs with Rolling Stone tribute bands -- including one that was so bad, he fired the band in the middle of the show.
As a teen, he was part of the backing band for Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars package tour.
He had a close bond (and shared birthday)) with Keith Richards.
He served as an attendant at Mick's wedding to Bianca Jagger.
He was musical director for Ronnie Wood's Miami club, Woody's on the Beach.
Asked if he considered himself the 'sixth Stone,' he replied 'Hell no. That would be delusional.'
