She later bequeathed her jewels to the monastery.
According to legend, her husband taxed the citizens of Coventry too highly. When she asked her husband to end the taxes, he agreed to on the condition that she ride through the town square in the nude. She shocked him by agreeing. The next day, she ordered the town's populace inside, and rode through the town's square nude. One man, named Tom, was caught by her hand maidens sneaking a peak out his window (hence the expression 'Peeping Tom'). Her husband was so impressed by her passion that he revoked all of the town's taxes, except for the horse tax.
