The Resume

    (December 14, 1960- )
    Born in Yonkers, New York
    Born James Brien Comey, Jr.
7th Director of the FBI (Assumed office September 4, 2013 )
Former Deputy Attorney General under George W. Bush (2003-05)
Attorney for the Southern District of New York (2002-03)
Announced that the FBI would not recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton following an investigation into her use of a personal email system during her tenure as Secretary of State (July 5, 2016)

Why he might be annoying:

He held ties with the Clinton Foundation through his role with the HSBC, leading some to question his objectivity.
He acknowledged that Hillary Clinton had deliberately misrepresented her use of a private email account, but by all accounts gave her a pass on it.
Many of his FBI colleagues are rumored to be outraged at what they perceive his prioritization of partisan politics above the rule of law.
He allowed Attorney General Loretta Lynch to defer to him on whether or not Clinton should face prosecution (normally this is the Department of Justice's role, the FBI only presents the results of the investigation to the prosecutor).
The announcement that Lynch would leave the decision up to the FBI came after it was revealed that Lynch had held a private meeting with former President Bill Clinton in Phoenix (inevitably leading skeptics to connect the dots).
He was accused of cowardice; intimidated at the thought of playing a part in the hitherto unprecedented move of indicting a former First Lady and Presidential candidate (and possibly putting her in jail).
His letting Clinton off the hook was lampooned in countless memes (e.g. one reading 'She's Guilty as Hell. But I Don't Want to Die Suddenly and Mysteriously').
He was completely eviscerated in a series of Congressional hearings focusing on his decision, coming off as dumbfounded and ill-prepared for the grilling he no doubt knew he would receive from House Republicans.
He claimed to Rep. Mark Walker that he wasn't sure if Clinton was guilty of committing perjury by lying under oath about her server during the Benghazi Hearings, even though his announcement refuted her claims piece-by-piece.
He came under fire from the Polish government after several remarks made at the DC Holocaust Museum,in 2015, which implied that the Poles were as responsible as the Germans for the Nazi Final Solution.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a leading prosecutor in the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia case.
He wrote a thought-provoking senior thesis comparing the beliefs in public action of Reinhold Niebuhr and Jerry Falwell.
He prosecuted Martha Stewart and New York's Gambino crime family.
He actively opposed the Bush administration's warrant-less NSA spying surveillance program.
He's been portrayed as a shill for the Clinton campaign, but he was a registered Republican as late as 2012.
He characterized Clinton and her aides as 'extremely careless' in their handling of classified information.
He's been credited with helping to expand the Bureau's scope beyond just crime prevention and into the realm of cyber-warfare and international terror.
He reportedly keeps a copy of the FBI memo to wiretap Martin Luther King as a reminder of the bureau's 'capacity to do wrong' (and if he's away from his desk he could just Google his own name as a nifty reminder...)
