Why he might be annoying:

He said he wrote '100 People Who Are Screwing Up America' to blame those people who are making America a 'far more selfish, vulgar and cynical place,' but when Dick Cheney told Pat Leahy 'go fuck yourself' on the Senate floor, he said, 'That was a long overdue suggestion.'
Similarly, he praises Rush Limbaugh, who has compared a teenage girl to a dog and mocked a man with Parkinson's disease.
By his count, only eight of the people screwing up America are conservatives.
Jon Stewart told him, 'I wish smart guys like you spent less time worrying about Barbra Streisand and more time worrying about Richard Perle or Karl Rove, or whoever the Democrats had in those positions during the Clinton years.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He won six Emmys for his work at CBS and two for his work on 'Real Sports.'
He won a Dupont-Columbia Award for excellence in journalism for a 'Real Sports' expose of the exploitation of children as camel jockeys in the United Arab Emirates.
He denounced Ann Coulter for calling John Edwards a faggot.
